Due to the strengthening of regulations such as the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), the new battery regulation, and the strengthening of the Eco Design Directive in Europe, the need for life cycle assessment at the product level is increasing, and HD Hyundai Construction Equipment conducted a carbon footprint measurement for construction machinery to proactively respond to this and manage carbon neutrality in the value chain.
Carbon dioxide emissions were measured throughout the entire life cycle of construction machinery, including the collection of raw materials, processing of parts and manufacturing of finished vehicles, operation of construction machinery equipment, and recycling and disposal, and were evaluated using the FullLCA method for five representative models of construction machinery in 2024.
The ratio of the five representative models is 2.3%, and we plan to gradually expand the number of models to be evaluated in the future.
